Welcome to the RBS Six Nations Championships, which is Europe’s top Rugby competition. It will take place from Saturday 6th February 2010 and conclude on Saturday 20th March 2010. For rugby fans the Six Nations Championship warms up the winter months often with some of the most pulsating competitive matches imaginable.
The competing Nations are England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France and Italy. Ireland are the defending Champions having won the Grand Slam last year for the first time in many decades.
Wales also won the Grand Slam in 2005, but in between, France have won the championship twice and they also were Grand Slam winners in 2004.
England, World cup finalists in 2007, last won the Six Nations in 2003; that year they were also crowned Champions of the World when they won the Rugby World Cup. Scotland last won in 1999 and look to be one of the big outsiders for the title on current form.
Italy joined the Six Nations Championship in 2000 and has yet to win and as usual will be the outsiders again this year.
